Abacus

“I am confident the Star Practice Management system will continue to pay for itself many times over.”

Star Practice Management has a range of business intelligence and reporting tools designed to ensure immediate access to key information, and where possible, automation of pre-defined reports.

Back in 2001 PwC set about withdrawing from certain client work in a number of jurisdictions due to conflicts arising from Sarbanes-Oxley legislation – and in Cyprus, Nicos Nicolaides and two fellow PwC partners seized on the unique opportunity this created.

Rehmann

“The feeling is that no matter how much new business Rehmann takes on, or how many new firms become part of the expanding operation, the Star Practice Management system is pretty well future-proof.”

The evolution of Rehmann into one of the largest CPA, wealth management and corporate investigative services firms in the Midwest of America has been remarkable – and it shows little sign of slowing down. Back in 1941, it was a single Saginaw-based accounting practice. Through a series of strategic mergers and acquisitions, Rehmann now ranks as the 36th largest US accounting firms and has more than 600 professionals in 16 locations throughout Michigan, Florida and Ohio. Rehmann is also a member of Nexia International.

Mize, Houser & Company

The transition from CPA/MIS to Star was painless from an end user’s perspective. Star is very intuitive and easy to use for people of all computer skill levels.

Most Certified Public Accountants these days have expertise in information technology but few can match the breadth and depth of experience – and abilities – of Mize, Houser & Company. The firm became involved in IT back in the early 1960s, when it was handling accounting for a number of large clients who were very early adopters of technology. This was long before the personal computer was invented and at the time when the internet was little more than an academic exercise. By the mid- 1980s, alongside its flourishing CPA practice Mize, Houser had built a significant IT business, providing services to clients as well as writing its own software to help manage its operations.

Baker Tilly

“I have every confidence in the world that even if we were to double in size tomorrow, Star Practice Management software would be able to support us.”

The founding partners of certified public accounting firm Virchow Krause would have great cause for congratulation if they were able to fast forward from 1931 to 2010. They would be gratified to see that the down-to-earth style and the collaborative, client-focused approach that built the firm are still evident today while Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP, as it is now known, has developed into a flourishing full-service accounting and advisory firm with a global reach.

The A9 Partnership

When The A9 Partnership decided to take on the CRM module, it was not to support full-blown marketing activity but with the very specific intention of handling annual renewals with clients of the firm’s insurance policy covering HMRC enquiries.

“Although the HMRC insurance scheme was the catalyst for installing the CRM module, once we realised what we had at our disposal our ambitions broadened.”

“If you don’t continue to spend wisely by investing to make the business more efficient and more competitive, ultimately this will cost you much more in the long-run,”

RMT

Even though the image of chartered accountancy has come a long way since it was lampooned as a profession by the Monty Python team in the 1970s, many people still have little appreciation of the scope of services and business advice that today’s firms provide.

But RMT has set out to change this – not just from the services perspective but also by breaking free from the ‘zero personality’ stereotype of accountants and carrying out an extensive re-branding exercise. Dull is out for the Newcastle-upon-Tyne based firm, from its striking new website, to its corporate colours, to its strapline ‘real people account for more’.

Glover Stanbury & Co

Kevin Salter enjoys something of a reputation within the IT sphere of the (UK) accountancy profession, through his contribution as a committee member of the Information Technology Faculty of the ICAEW. He is also a software evaluator for the ICAEW Accredited Products scheme and IT Director of the 2020 Innovation Group. When Kevin's fellow partners agreed that the firm's existing practice management software needed upgrading, the task of finding a replacement naturally fell within his remit.

Cartwright Consulting Ltd

Hardly a day goes by without some aspect of pensions making headline news. The impact of compliance, legislation, and tax on fund values; scheme funding shortfalls; proposals to extend the retirement age; closure of final salary schemes to new members; and the inexorable drift to ‘more affordable’ money purchase alternatives – all are grist to the mill at actuarial and pension consultants, Cartwright Consulting Ltd.

Cartwright Consulting Ltd Director, Robin Pearce, explained that the firm was incorporated in 1999 to build on the success of I.S. Cartwright & Company, which was itself founded in 1986.

Parfrey Murphy

When Parfrey Murphy was in its infancy back in the early 1980s, partners Seamus Parfrey and Noel Murphy knew all of their clients very well indeed. They could easily remember every phone conversation and which letters had been sent and received, together with the precise progress of every client job. They also knew their clients’ businesses intimately – how they were performing, their successes and setbacks.

These very close client relationships – together with a reputation for high quality services and scrupulous attention to detail – were instrumental in helping Parfrey Murphy to expand over the years, to the point where it is one of the largest firms of professional accountants in County Cork.
